Summary
Predi Designs partnered with Texas Children’s Hospital’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Retention Committee to create an informative and visually engaging poster. This piece was designed to encourage parents and guardians to recognize and nominate nurses who provide exceptional care. Given the medical setting and the hospital’s focus on pediatric care, the poster needed to strike a balance between professionalism and a welcoming, child-friendly aesthetic. The challenge was to communicate the message clearly while appealing to both adults and children. The result was a visually dynamic and approachable design that met the hospital’s objectives, positively influencing parental engagement and nurse recognition.
Project Goals & Purpose
This project was created to support the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit’s initiative to improve nurse retention and morale by encouraging recognition from parents and guardians. By fostering an environment where patient families can easily provide positive feedback, the hospital strengthens its commitment to high-quality pediatric care.
The design had to align with Texas Children’s Hospital’s branding while also being approachable for parents in an emotionally challenging setting. It was crucial to integrate clear, encouraging messaging while maintaining a visually inviting and professional aesthetic. Our expertise in corporate design solutions ensured that the final piece resonated with its intended audience while staying true to the hospital’s mission.
Additionally, we took into account the unique nature of designing for a pediatric hospital. Unlike standard medical posters, which often have a clinical feel, this piece needed a warmer and more engaging approach that reflected the compassionate care the hospital provides. Through strategic use of color, imagery, and typography, we created a polished yet heartfelt design that successfully encourages participation from parents and guardians.
Challenges
Designing for a hospital setting requires balancing professionalism with approachability. The challenge was to create a poster that looked informative and trustworthy while also feeling warm and welcoming to parents. Additionally, since hospitals often have strict branding guidelines, our team had to work within Texas Children’s Hospital’s existing visual framework while still crafting something uniquely engaging.
Another key challenge was ensuring the message stood out in a busy hospital environment where parents might not have time to stop and read lengthy text. The design had to be visually compelling while delivering a clear and concise call to action.
Solutions
To address these challenges, we developed a design that leveraged bright yet calming colors, friendly typography, and a clear hierarchy of information. The final piece was structured to immediately catch attention, guiding viewers naturally toward the key message about nurse recognition.
By using a combination of Texas Children's Hospital's branding elements and custom visuals, we crafted a poster that resonates with both parents and hospital staff. The messaging was refined to be concise yet persuasive, making it easy for parents to understand how to participate. Through our expertise in on-demand creative services, we delivered a design solution that successfully met the hospital’s objectives.
Client Reception
Texas Children’s Hospital’s team was highly satisfied with the final product, noting how well it balanced professionalism with warmth. The Cardiac ICU Retention Committee praised the design’s effectiveness in engaging parents and increasing awareness about the Daisy Award nomination process. Staff members also appreciated how well the poster improved feedback and morale on the CICU unit.
