This collection of wide-format billboard and poster designs was created to capture attention and shape the personality of McCord’s biggest seasonal promotions. From the vivid lines of First Friday Night Market to the dynamic imagery in Don’t Miss The Action, every layout emphasized clarity and brand presence. Some designs were direct and minimal, others had more copy and needed typographic finesse. Each solution reflected the energy of the event it supported while staying readable, bold, and on-brand.

Project Goals & Purpose

Large-format advertising is about speed, communicating a full idea in under five seconds. Our job was to create event visuals that didn’t just fill space, but sparked curiosity and attendance. Working with McCord’s marketing team, we developed a series of adaptable templates and concepts that could stretch from signage to social. Each campaign required a different voice, Juneteenth had texture and heritage, while Friday Night Market channeled nightlife and geometric rhythm. As a design subscription partner, we stepped in where needed, bringing creative consistency to a rotating calendar of events. Our Corporate Design Solutions help real estate and community brands like McCord show up at scale, on time, and on message.

  • Capture Attention in Seconds
    Drivers only have a few seconds to register a billboard. Our layouts used bold visuals and minimal text to stand out at a glance whenever possible.
  • Balance Event Info and Design
    Many of these events required detailed info, including date, time, and activities. Our challenge was presenting it clearly without overwhelming the visual message.
  • Design for Multiple Sizes and Uses
    These billboards often rotated through different formats, from large-scale highway placements to onsite posters. We built every design to adapt without losing clarity.
The Fiesta in the Square poster emphasized rhythm and festivity through saturated colors and layered paper-cut style elements, delivering a high-energy invitation for the event.

Challenges

Many billboard layouts were constrained by how much copy the client needed to include. Unlike pure branding pieces, these often had to feature event schedules, times, and descriptions without losing visual clarity. Balancing that much content while keeping the viewer’s attention at 60 mph, or on foot, was a unique creative challenge. We also had to shift tone frequently, from nightlife and festivity to community and remembrance, all within the same promotional calendar.

Solutions

We adapted our design approach based on how much content each billboard needed. For high-impact campaigns like Don’t Miss The Action, we emphasized striking visuals and concise headlines. For layered messages like Liberty on the Lawn or NYE, we built clear typographic structure and focused on layout rhythm. By providing McCord with on-demand creative, we could stay ahead of their seasonal needs and adjust quickly based on direction, feedback, and placement.

This Juneteenth campaign featured distressed textures and a “weathered” look, designed to speak visually to the raw history and unfiltered celebration that defines the spirit of the event.
