Summary
We partnered with Ranger to build ongoing social content grounded in real field moments and practical innovation. The launch series introduced new leadership through “Where in the field is Stuart Bodden,” using stylized polaroids on a modeled trailer corkboard to spark community guessing and pride. For other campaigns we leveraged existing 3D assets, including a mobile rig and pumps, to visualize complex wells and position Ranger as the technical solution. Recruitment and service spotlights expanded into wireline and fishing, keeping visuals consistent and credible. Results were cohesive, on brand, and audience focused.
Project Goals & Purpose
Before starting, our purpose was to design a social system that could adapt to leadership storytelling, service education, and recruitment without losing authenticity. We planned content pillars that balanced people, safety, and technology, then built an asset library that could scale quickly across platforms and variable aspect ratios.
The “Where in the Field is Stuart Bodden?” campaign was designed to introduce Ranger Energy’s new CEO in a way that felt approachable and genuine. Rather than relying on formal announcements, Stuart traveled directly to field sites across the company, meeting crews in person and building real connections with the people who make Ranger run. Predi Designs turned this initiative into an interactive experience by creating a digital corkboard-style social media campaign, where employees could track his visits, share photos, and engage with the journey online. The result was a memorable, company-wide event that celebrated leadership visibility while strengthening the bond between field teams and corporate offices.
Our role as designers on retainer was to deliver continuity and speed, not one off hero pieces. We wanted a predictable cadence that supported brand lift, hiring needs, and sales. For leadership, we aimed to show presence in the field and attention to crews. For operations, we sought to reuse 3D rigs and components to explain technical value clearly. For HR, we prepared templates and layered graphics that attract candidates for wireline and fishing. For marketing, we established a style where Ranger yellow guides the eye, and everything else stays restrained for clarity. Tango and Echo would sit naturally within this system as innovation highlights, with icons and succinct copy that remove friction. If your team needs social content that flexes with your priorities, our Design Retainer Service and On-Demand Creative Services combine strategy, production, and iteration in one reliable partnership.
Challenges
Leadership transition required careful tone, showing authenticity without turning field content into staged photo ops. Image rights, PPE visibility, and safety context had to be correct every time. Platform social media aspect ratios varied widely, which risked cropping critical details. Recruitment needs spiked after a services acquisition, compressing timelines dramatically while Ranger focused on filling new vacant roles. Legacy visuals leaned bright and busy, while the new direction favored more restraint which meant we needed to adjust our designs accordingly. Our tiktok/instagram videos shipped without audio originally, which meant captions or text overlays needed to carry the message. Lastly, keeping color accurate across dusty sites and mixed lighting demanded disciplined retouching and look management.
Solutions
We built a modular system that treats each post as part of a narrative sequence. The polaroid corkboard environment introduced a playful frame while keeping safety and site context intact. A reusable 3D asset pipeline let us render rigs and pumps quickly for technical explainers. We templated ratios for 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, and 9:16 to protect key details. Color checks and PPE callouts were added to QA. Holiday and recruitment variations used the same grid for cohesion. Through our On-Demand Creative Services within a Design Retainer Service, Ranger received fast iterations, consistent quality, and measurable brand lift.
Client Reception
Ranger’s team appreciated how the series made leadership feel present in the field while elevating technical credibility. Operations valued reuse of accurate 3D assets. HR cited stronger applicant interest for wireline roles. Marketing praised the cohesion between culture posts and service spotlights. Executives noted improved engagement quality, more constructive comments from crews, and smoother alignment around brand tone and safety representation.
