By incorporating interactive elements, 3D renderings, high-quality photography, and seamless backend management, the new Ranger Energy website became a powerful, scalable digital asset that supports the company’s continued growth and innovation. We also prioritized a user-friendly backend to ensure Ranger’s internal team could easily update news articles, upload resources, and manage key content without needing extensive technical knowledge. Additionally, we collaborated with an investor site designer to ensure that earnings reports and stock information matched the overall site aesthetic, maintaining a consistent, professional brand identity across all digital touchpoints.
Project Goals & Purpose
Ranger Energy had recently gone through multiple acquisitions, leading to an urgent need for a centralized, professional website that reflected their expanded capabilities and future vision. The site needed to be visually engaging, content-rich, and easy to navigate, serving both industry professionals and investors. A core challenge was establishing an effective site map that accommodated new divisions, services, and resources without overwhelming visitors. The site also had to be highly functional, allowing Ranger’s internal team to manage content efficiently without relying on a developer for updates.
To maintain brand consistency, we preserved Ranger’s original color scheme and typography while introducing modern design elements that reinforced their position as an industry leader. Every aspect of the site, from the custom icons to the multimedia elements, was designed to reflect Ranger’s expertise, technological advancements, and commitment to efficiency.
Challenges
The primary challenge was establishing a site structure that accommodated Ranger’s expanding services and acquisitions without overwhelming users. A clear site map was critical to ensure that technical content, investor reports, and company information were easily accessible.
Another challenge was creating visual assets for a suite of mobile applications that didn’t exist yet. Since no actual screenshots were available, we had to develop faux UI designs that felt authentic, professional, and on-brand. These mockups also needed to blend seamlessly with the website’s modern aesthetic to reinforce Ranger’s commitment to technological innovation.
On the backend, the website had to be easy to manage for Ranger’s internal team. The challenge was balancing robust functionality with user-friendly controls, ensuring non-technical employees could update content effortlessly.
Solutions
To address the site structure challenge, we developed a carefully mapped-out navigation system, ensuring that each division of the company had clear, intuitive access points. The website layout was designed for effortless scalability, allowing for future growth and content additions.
For the mobile application showcase, we created high-quality faux screenshots, placed in realistic phone mockups to illustrate how the applications would function. These visuals not only served marketing purposes but also helped guide the app developers in their UI/UX decisions. We also took advantage of all the media available thanks to these efforts to create a comprehensive video that covers Ranger's full scope of services.
To simplify backend content management, we built an easy-to-use dashboard that allows Ranger’s internal team to publish news articles, upload resources, and update investor reports with minimal effort. This approach ensures the website remains up-to-date and effective without requiring extensive technical knowledge.
