McCord Development, the owners of Generation Park and Redemption Square, sought to elevate the outdoor experience with clear, beautifully designed trail maps and signage. Their vision was to create a seamless, visually engaging wayfinding system that enhanced both practicality and aesthetic appeal. Predi Designs developed a regional amenity map labeling every restaurant, shop, trail, and major road, ensuring visitors could navigate with ease. We also designed outdoor signage showcasing local flora and fauna, adding an educational component to the trails. Additionally, custom-branded environmental wraps were created for trash and recycling bins, reinforcing McCord’s dedication to a clean and well-branded community space.

Project Goals & Purpose
McCord Development needed high-quality, visually engaging signage and mapping solutions that would serve both functional and aesthetic purposes.
At Generation Park and Redemption Square, community events and outdoor activities are a central part of daily life. Whether it’s runners, bikers, or casual visitors, the need for clear, intuitive navigation tools was essential. Our team developed a clean, easy-to-read trail map that made local businesses, trails, and roads effortlessly accessible. Beyond wayfinding, educational signage was created to highlight local wildlife and plants, enhancing the visitor experience. These signs were strategically placed along trails, allowing residents to learn about their environment while exploring the outdoors.
To further unify the branding, we designed custom wraps for trash and recycling bins, ensuring that every piece of outdoor infrastructure fit seamlessly into McCord’s highly curated public spaces.
The result was a professional, polished signage system that not only improved navigation but also reinforced the thoughtful design and branding standards McCord Development is known for.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was balancing functionality and aesthetics. The trail maps had to be highly readable while maintaining a sleek, professional design. The amenity maps, which labeled shops, restaurants, and walking paths, needed to be detailed yet visually clean, ensuring an intuitive navigation experience.
Another challenge was designing outdoor signage that remained durable and legible in all weather conditions. Materials, colors, and typography had to be carefully chosen to withstand sun exposure, rain, and wear over time while maintaining a high-end, polished appearance. Additionally, ensuring brand consistency across different mediums, from trail maps to recycling bins, was essential for keeping McCord Development’s signature level of presentation intact.

We tackled these challenges by implementing a structured design approach that emphasized clarity, durability, and aesthetic appeal. For the trail maps, we used a minimalist, modern design, with legible typography and clear iconography to make navigation effortless. The amenity map was carefully crafted to provide detailed yet visually clean labeling, ensuring businesses and key locations were easy to find.
To bring an educational element to the trails, we designed bold, easy-to-read wildlife signs featuring engaging illustrations and informative text, helping visitors connect with their natural surroundings. For brand consistency, we incorporated custom vector artwork of the Houston skyline into various outdoor graphics. This design was repurposed across multiple assets, including signage, apparel, and promotional materials, reinforcing the community’s identity and spirit.
