A Decade of Designing Solo
Predi Designs began with a lean idea, an agency where I could handle a wide range of projects, build strong client relationships, and keep the work efficient. For a long time, that approach worked.
I started young. As a teenager, I spent free time animating cartoons for the internet and making Flash games for people to play. I loved it, and I loved collaborating with other talented kids around the world. Animation needed voice actors. Games needed programmers. We found each other in forums and chat groups, working together because we wanted to, without contracts or deadlines.
Looking back, it is amazing to think about who those collaborators became. Some are major YouTube creators. Some act in film and television. Others animate, direct, or do voice work for entities like Adult Swim or Nickelodeon. Some work at large technology companies. In the early 2000s we were simply kids making things for fun.
We All Need Somebody To Lean On
The Joy of Collaboration
When I launched Predi Designs, I hoped to find that spark of creative collaboration again, this time by partnering with passionate clients. Often I do feel it. A client arrives with a strong idea and real energy, and I feel the same rush I felt years ago when a group of kids decided to make something cool together.
At the end of the day, I am still a team of one. Not because I prefer it that way, but because I have been cautious about changing what works.
Projects that don't require much client collaboration feel much more by-the-numbers. If you're excited, we're excited!
"My client relationships are personal and hard won."
I am Predi Designs. It's just me.
Why I Stayed Solo for So Long
I built Predi Designs from the ground up. My client relationships are personal and hard won. Bringing someone new into that mix has always felt risky. I want a collaborator who respects what the business stands for and supports the foundation I have laid. More importantly, I want to hire only when I am ready. I have seen companies hire before they could afford it. Paychecks became uncertain, employers delay/deny/ignore inquiries about missed checks, and the risks fall on everyone. I will not run my business that way. I want my employees to feel secure in their position and know that their job will be there in the morning.
Then 2024 Happened...
When I Knew I Needed Help
In 2024 I admitted that working alone was not sustainable. I had wondered what would happen if I became seriously ill or injured. Without me, Predi Designs would stop. That is a dangerous place to be when your livelihood depends on your business.
What truly opened my eyes was simpler. I needed a vacation, and I had no way to take one. I had built a business that relied entirely on me. If I stepped away, no one was there to keep things moving. The year was personally difficult as well. Several plans and hopes for my future changed in ways I could not fix. I felt alone, and I realized I needed help in life, not just in business.
A tough year for my personal life forced me to re-evaluate my business and take that next step out of my comfort zone.
"If I was going to hire, I wanted full confidence that I could pay a new teammate reliably."
No Shortcuts
Preparing for Growth the Right Way
I began to prepare the business for growth. I modernized day to day practices. I rebuilt contracts. I sought legal and business advice. I trimmed the budget while pushing to grow subscriptions. If I was going to hire, I wanted full confidence that I could pay a new teammate reliably. No guessing and no wishful thinking.
Now, I am close. The Next Step, Finding the Right Person
It is time to find the right collaborator. I do not need just anyone. I need someone who fits the ethos of Predi Designs, a driven and adaptable person who is ready to learn. Likely a young designer eager for real world experience and motivated to build something meaningful. Most of all, I want someone who cares, about the work, about our clients, and about doing things the right way. Maybe they will grow into a standout professional who goes on to do incredible things, as many of my early collaborators did. First, we will build something great together.

- Predi Designs has grown almost entirely through real-world recommendations. The business has thrived because former clients and colleagues continue to speak highly of their experience long after a project ends. Their confidence in our work built a steady flow of new opportunities without paid advertising or heavy online marketing. This article highlights how those offline connections and positive experiences shaped the company’s growth and inspired the testimonial features on the 2025 website.
- Most people look at a monthly design cost and make a quick judgment. It is either too high or it’s cheap labor that doesn’t deliver. Somewhere in the middle, there is a number that makes people pause and ask, “What could I actually get for this?” That is usually where the real discussion starts. What does a designer actually cost? What are you paying for when you hire in-house versus working with an agency or a subscription? And why do some options that seem cheaper upfront end up costing more over time? There is a lot more going on behind that monthly number than most people realize.
- Clients chose email, and the work moved faster when I listened. I once built a polished project system with boards, colors, and real time updates that solved my problems, not theirs. Ultimately, this is why Predi kept the project management organization in email, so clients can request work in the simplest way possible. If your team wants to communicate without yet another software and login, no worries! With Predi Designs, we solved the problem on our end so you don't have to.
